Jesse died because the CSI Miami team decided not to renew the actor (Eddie Cibrian)'s contract, once Eric came back into the show, and they wanted to focus more on the old team,

The whole episode was soooo thrilling, your heart beats fast throughout the episode and the ending was touching... One of the best.
